BREAKING NEWS UPDATE; FALL 2016/ WINTER 2017
James Timm- my former student from Il., has just been named Chief Marketing Officer of the Atlanta Symphony, James who has a B.M. from the Juilliard School in Viola Performance, was Director, Marketing and Brand Management of the Atlanta Ballet Theater in N.Y.
Stefan Melas-was awarded a Full scholarship to work on his PH.D. in Violin Performance at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. It is a great honor to receive this scholarship. Recently, Stefan had three lessons with Midori. He also consulted with Glenn Dicterow regarding his dissertation.
Phoebe Liu-won First Place, Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, February, 23, 2017. She also won First Place, Hilton Head Concerto Competition, on February 4, 2017. She will solo with them in December, 2017. Phoebe won First Place, Dekalb Symphony Concerto Competition, January, 2017. She will solo with them on March 21, 2017. Phoebe was the 2016 Winner of the Georgia Music Teacher’s Concerto Competition and soloed at the GMTA State Conference in Macon in November 2016. In Fall, 2016, Phoebe was chosen Concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Lydia Newton-is the 2017 Winner of the Louisiana Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and soloed with them in February, 2017 in New Orleans. She was also the 2016-17 MTNA-MS Senior String Competition winner.In February, 2017, Lydia was the guest performer for Young Artist Performances and gave four recitals on Hilton Head Island.
Phoebe and Tobias Liu- were featured as soloists individually and together at the Tower of Talent fundraiser for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Center, in December, 2016. In addition, they were featured in a live performance on 11Alive TV.
Zoe Lo- has been chosen to attend the Curtis Institute of Music’s Summerfest, 2017. Zoe is a member of the Emory Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Georgia All State Orchestra.
Raunak Kumar- won First Place in the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and will solo with them in May, 2017.
Bradley Hu- was chosen Concertmaster of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra, 2016.
BREAKING NEWS SPRING / SUMMER 2016
ANDREW KOONCE- accepted at the Juilliard School for a violin major with Professor Lewis Kaplan.
LINGYI XIN- accepted at Northwestern University as a violin major with Professor Gerardo Riberio.
DUMARKUS DAVIS- accepted as a transfer student at San Francisco Conservatory as a violin major with Professor He
PHOEBE LIU - finished three weeks at the Curtis Institute Summer Music Institute where she performed as Concertmaster of the orchestra; performed the Trout Quintet in concert, and performed in a Master Class with Alex Kerr, Concertmaster of Dallas Symphony. prior to that she was at the Buti Tanglewood-Boston Symphony Chamber Music Festival where she performed frequently.
MELODIE SPENCER, LYDIA NEWTON AND ALLEN LIU just finished two weeks at the Carnegie Hall-National Youth Orchestra of the United States 2, coaching and performing alongside the Philadelphia Orchestra.
ZOE LO was a full scholarship student at the Holy Cross Summer Music Institute in Boston where she performed.
Julia Su was a scholarship student at the Credo Chamber Music Program in Ohio where she performed.
TOBY LIU just finished a month of performing at the Franklin Pond Chamber Music Program where he frequently was First Violin.
PHOEBE LIU, JULIA SU, AND JENNIFER DENG have been accepted into ASYO 2016-17
ANNA LEVINE just returned from Iceland where she performed with orchestra, in master classes and solos at the Harpa International Music Academy for two weeks.
ELLA GRACE MALCOM, EUGENIE LIM AND JENNIFER DENG, all recent winners in the American Protege International String Competition, have recently performed or are performing in Weill Hall Carnegie Hall, NY.
